I know there's a lot of ingredients but this is such an easy recipie and it tastes delicious
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 450
- 2
Rinse catfish filets with water
- 3
Fill a large bowl or gallon ziploc with beer and soak the catfish for a while (I went with around 20 minutes)
- 4
Put all dry ingredients (black pepper, salt, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and flour) into gallon ziploc bag and thoroughly mix them together.
- 5
Take catfish out of the beer and put them in the dry ingredients (the beer will make them stick to the fish)
- 6
Pour a layer of peanut oil in a skillet and get it bubbling (don't turn heat too high or it WILL produce smoke)
- 7
Fry the catfish (2 minutes per side should suffice)
- 8
Put a layer of aluminum foil on baking sheet and place filets evenly on it
- 9
Bake for 10 minutes
- 10
Done! Now you have crispy beer battered deliciousness!

I came up with this when I was thinking about various recipes using cassis mustard. When I had fish & chips, I just thought it might be delicious if I added cassis mustard to a beer batter. So I tried with store-bought tempura flour to make this easily, and it was a big success! They are so crispy and yummy!!Don't make the batter and let it sit. Dissolve the tempura flour in beer to make the batter right before you make fries. Recipe by Uniikura cookpad.japan -
