Ingredients

  • 2 cupsrice (soaked for 15min)
  • 1 1/2-2 cupsfresh methi leaves
  • 1 tspginger garlic paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tbspoil and 2 tbsp ghee
  • Handfulgreen peas
  • 1 largepotato and onion
  • 2-3green chillies
  • 3 1/2-4 cupswater
  • Dry spices
  • 2small bay leaves
  • 4-5cloves
  • one inch longCinnamon or dalchini stick
  • 1 small piecestar anise
  • 10 to 15Pepper
  • 1 tspsambar powder

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak rice for 15 minutes Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Rinse the methi leaves in water.

  3. 3

    In a pressure cooker pour oil,ghee.Add dry spices,green chillies and fry it.Add onions and cook till it's colour changes a bit.Add potato,ginger garlic paste and sambar powder and fry till you get a nice aroma.

    Tranfer the drained rice,green peas and methi leaves and fry slightly on very low flame for 2 to 3 min.

    Pour water and add the required salt.Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on low flame for 3 whistles.

    After the pressure goes off remove the lid.Now fluff the rice gently and mix it.

    Serve hot with onion raita and lemon.
