Ingredients

20 minutes
6 servings
  • 1/2 kgboiled & mashed potatoes
  • as neededoil for deep frying
  • 1/4 teaspoonMustard Seed
  • 6-8curry leaves
  • 2chopped green chillies
  • 2whole red chillies
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 4chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 inchchopped ginger piece
  • 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  • to tastesalt
  • 2 tspoil
  • 2 cupbesan
  • as neededwater
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspcumin powder
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1/4 tspbaking soda

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Mashed potatoes

    Heat oil and add mustard seeds. When they crackle, add the curry leaves, ginger, garlic, green chilli,whole red chillies, turmeric and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.

    Add the tempering to the mashed potatoes, along with the chopped coriander leaves.

    Divide the potato mixture into equal size of balls.Keep them aside.

    Make a thick batter with the chickpea flour(besan) and the other ingredients.Mix them well.

    Heat the oil &
    When the oil is hot, dip each ball in the batter and deep fry until golden brown in colour.

    Serve hot with green chutney & pav
