Momos are usually steamed filled dumplings. Many a times you have tasted momos but this one is something different; coating-wise and even filling-wise. You can fill your kids tummy with these colourful, healthy & eye-catching dumplings.
Steps
- 1
Firstly for kneeding the dough, in a bowl add maida and little salt. Mix it then add beetroot juice, as per your requirement, to Knead a dough. Then add a tsp of oil and once again Knead the dough well into a smooth dough, as shown in the image below. Now cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about half an hour. For making beetroot juice, I have chopped beetroot into pieces and then grinded them into a mixer & strained the juice using a muslin cloth.
- 2
Now let's come to the filling. In a pan add 2 tsp of ghee. Then add curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chillies. Saute it for about a minute, then add chopped onion, chopped capsicum, chopped carrot to it. Add salt and sugar as per taste and fry them till its 50 percent cooked.
- 3
Then add shredded paneer to it. Add some salt and pepper powder. Mix it then add a tbsp of Honey-Mustard Sauce and finally add some chopped coriander leaves. Give everything a good mix. Your filling is now ready.
- 4
Now lets start making momos. Make a chapati ball out of the dough and roll it into a thin chapati. Now with the help of cutter, cut them into a round shape. Separate them and keep them aside.
- 5
Now take a rolled momo ball, place a tsp of paneer filling in between and a small cube of cheese between the filling. Refer to the images below. Now make the desired shape of your choice.I have used the following process shown in the image below. Use the same method with the rest of the momos/dough.
- 6
Now you can either put them into a steamer & steam it for 10 to 12 mins. Or you can put them into a strainer. Now steam the momos using double-boiler method for 12 mins. I.e boil some water in a big bowl then place the strainer over it & cover it. Keep the flame low and steam it.
- 7
After 10 to 12 mins., just switch off the flame, remove the momos on a platter. You will notice the melting cheese oosing out from the momos once you cut them. Serve these melt-in-mouth hot momos with some schezwan chutney or with any ketchup of your choice.
