Soak tamarind in warm water and extract the juice. Wash,cut the brinjals into medium sized pieces and soak it in water.

In a pan add little oil saute the ingredients until golden brown and grind everything into a fine powder.

In a pan add oil when it is hot add Mustard seeds, when it splutter add chana dal, red chillies, hing and curry leaves.

Add the brinjals, tamarind pulp, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well, boil for a few minutes till the raw smell goes off.

Add the grinded powder, mix well and boil for a few minutes till it becomes thick consistency. Switch off the flame and goes well with hot rice, Pongal and Idlis.
