Ingredients

  1. 1 cupbottle gourd cubes
  2. 1/2 cupleft over tur daal
  3. 2medium tomatoes
  4. 1small onion
  5. 5-6curry leaves
  6. 2 tbspsambhar masala
  7. 1/4 tspred chilli powder
  8. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  9. 1 tspblack mustard
  10. 2dry red chillies
  11. 1 tbsptamarind pulp
  12. 2 tbspoil

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pressure cooker.Add mustard seeds,dry chillies and curry leaves.Let mustard seeds crackle.Add chopped onion and fry till light golden.

    Add bottle gourd cubes,saute few seconds. Add powdered spices.Saute 30 seconds then add tomato cubes.

    Mix and cook 1 minute.Add left over dal.Then add 300 ml water.Add salt to taste.

    Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles on high flame.Let pressure release itself.Adjust consistency.Add tamarind pulp,mix.

    Serve hot.You may serve this instant sambhar with idli or dosa.I've served the sambhar with dosa.
