I'm seriously obsessed with homemade baked donuts in tons of different ways. This is my go to recipe. I highly recommend getting a donut pan if you haven't got one already. They are only about $6 and worth every penny. Recipe adapted from : Sallysbakingaddiction.com

Ingredients

8 donuts
  1. For the Donuts :
  2. 1 cupall purpose flour
  3. 1 tsp.baking powder
  4. 1/4 tsp.baking soda
  5. 1/4 tsp.ground nutmeg
  6. 1/2 tsp.salt
  7. 1large egg, at room temperature
  8. 1/3 cuplight brown sugar
  9. 1/4 cupmilk, at room temperature (any kind works)
  10. 1/4 cupplain yogurt or sour cream, at room temperature
  11. 2 tbsp.unsalted butter, melted
  12. 1 1/2 tsp.vanilla extract
  13. For The Glaze :
  14. 1 cupconfectioners sugar
  15. 2 tbsp.heavy cream or milk
  16. 1/4 tsp.vanilla extract

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350F. Spray a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the egg, brown sugar, milk and yogurt (or sour cream) until smooth. Whisk in the melted butter and vanilla until fully combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

Spoon the batter into the donut pan. Per the recipes recommendation, I placed the batter into a large Ziploc bag, cut a hole at one corner and piped the batter into the donut cavities. Fill no more than 3/4 of the way full with batter.

  5. 5

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Let them sit in the donut pan for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack and bake the remaining batter.

  6. 6

For the glaze, simply whisk the glaze ingredients together in a large bowl. You can dip each donut into the glaze while they are still slightly warm, coating both sides OR drizzle the glaze over the tops of the donuts (as I did in the picture followed by sanding sugar sprinkles)

I love to bake and to try out new recipes! I'm always on the lookout for simple dinners for busy weeknights. A lot of the recipes I post on here are ones I've found on Pinterest or from different bloggers, and that I've tried and really enjoyed, but I always reference to where I got the recipe from in the recipe description and the pictures are my own. If there's no source listed, then it's a rare recipe that I came up with. I have two wonderful kids and I hope to pass on my love of cooking and baking to them.
