Homemade Beer 🍺 Bread!!

This beer bread is absolutely delicious and super easy to make!
It turns out really soft and stays that way for days. The beer gives it a flavor I personally love!
I’ve made it many times with different beer brands: Bud Light, Budweiser… You can use whichever one you usually have at home or the one you like best.
I usually keep it in a cake keeper, and it stays nice and soft for even longer.
Give it a try… Who doesn’t have a beer lying around at home?

Steps
- 1
Make the preferment:
In a bowl, combine half a cup of warm water, the yeast, 5 tablespoons of bread flour, the teaspoon of sugar, and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix everything together. - 2
Now cover it with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel, and place it in the oven (turned off — just using it as a draft-free place). Preferment helps develop flavor and improve the bread’s texture. Let it rest for 1 hour.
- 3
Mix the dough:
Once the preferment is ready, move on to the next step. In another bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients: the beer, 500 g of bread flour, and 10 g of salt. - 4
Then, take the preferment out of the oven and mix it into the beer dough. You’ll notice the preferment has changed — it should be bubbly and slightly risen.
- 5
Once it’s well mixed, knead it for about 10 minutes. You can rub a bit of olive oil on your hands and on the surface you’ll be kneading on to keep the dough from sticking. Shape it into a ball and place it in one of the bowls you used earlier, lightly greased with olive oil. Sprinkle some flour on top, cover it again with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel, and let it rest in the (turned-off) oven for 1 to 2 hours.
- 6
Once the resting time is over, take the dough out of the oven — you’ll see it has risen quite a bit! Knead it again to release the gas, then let it rest for another hour (the longer the dough rests, the softer the crumb will be).
- 7
The next step is to shape the bread however you like. I prefer a round shape so I can slice it for breakfast toast. The oven should be preheated by now (180ºC / 390ºF). Place a container with water inside the oven to create steam — this will help keep the inside soft.”
- 8
Now we’re going to make a few slashes on the dough with a very sharp knife, sprinkle some flour on top to give it a rustic touch, and put it in the oven.
- 9
Look at what a beautiful loaf we’ve made!
- 10
The crumb will turn out like this!
