Sausage Stromboli with spinach, mushrooms & onions
Great to bring for a potluck with friends and don’t forget the marinara sauce for dipping!
Steps

Make sure dough is room temperature before starting then preheat oven to 400°

Brown sausage in a nonstick skillet or cut casings open if you wish to have crumbled sausage

In a separate non-stick skillet heat olive oil and sauté garlic with mushrooms and onions, adding salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Add spinach and mix until wilted then add crumbled or sliced sausage.

Roll out dough on a floured surface with rolling pin into a rectangle and place mixture once cooled on the dough leaving about a one and a half inch border all around. When finished top with shredded cheese.

When rolling Stromboli fold one side of the dough to cover the contents then fold in the sides. Make sure to roll and pinch the dough so nothing can come out. Cook with the seam side down on a lined cookie sheet.

Cut several small slits into the top of the Stromboli and then brush with egg wash before placing in oven

Cook until golden brown making sure the thickest part of the dough is fully cooked. Cover the top with foil if needed so it doesn’t burn.

Let’s set for five minutes and then slice and enjoy with marinara sauce
