Thai Basil Ground Beef (Pad Krapow Neua)

Coarsely pound the garlic and chilies together. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pounded garlic and chilies. Stir-fry until fragrant.

Add the ground beef and stir-fry until cooked through.

Once the beef is cooked, add the oyster sauce, sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, and water. Stir well to combine.

Add the red chili pepper and Thai basil leaves. Stir just until the basil is wilted, then remove from heat. Serve hot with steamed rice and, for extra flavor, top with a fried egg.
