Ingredients

  1. 1 tspBiriyani masala
  2. 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
  3. 2 teaspoonFennel seeds
  4. 3Cardamom
  5. 3Cloves
  6. 1 inchCinnamon Stick
  7. 3black stone flower
  8. 1Star anise
  9. For the Biryani
  10. 1/2 kgChicken
  11. 1 cupBasmati rice
  12. 1Onion, chopped
  13. 3Green Chillies, slit
  14. 1Tomato, chopped
  15. 1 teaspoonGinger, grated
  16. 2 teaspoonsGarlic, minced
  17. 1 tablespoonCoriander Powder
  18. 1/2 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  19. 1 tablespoonRed chilli powder
  20. 1/4 cupCoriander leaves, chopped
  21. 2 tablespoonsMint Leaves chopped
  22. 1-1/2 cupWater
  23. to tasteSalt,
  24. vegetable oil

Steps

    To begin making Thalapakatti Chicken Biryani Recipe, take the whole spices mentioned under biryani masala in blender and powder it coarsely. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add in onions and green chillies. Saute it till the onions are transclucent.

  3. 3

    Add the tomatoes and mix well. Add in ginger and garlic paste and saute for a minute.

  4. 4

    Add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, and coriander powder. Mix everything well.

  5. 5

    Add the ground biriyani masala and mix well. Add the chicken and saute well for 5 to 10 minutes or till the chicken is at least half way done.

  6. 6

    Meanwhile wash and soak the basmati rice for 5 minutes.

  7. 7

    Add the rice to the pressure cooker, add one and half cup water. Cover and pressure cook for 1 whistle on high and simmer for 5 minutes.

    Open the lid once the pressure has released on it's own

    Serve Thalapakatti Chicken Biryani with raita for a hearty Sunday meal.
