Ingredients

  1. 1 cupovernight soaked yellow moong dal
  2. 1/2 cupovernight soaked urad dal
  3. 1 tbspsalt
  4. 1/4 tspcrushed black pepper
  5. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  6. 4 cupsblended yogurt or curd
  7. as neededTamrind sauce
  8. as neededTomato sauce
  9. as neededCoriander and mint chutney
  10. as neededRoasted and crushed cumin seeds
  11. 1 cupPomegranate seeds
  12. 1/2 tspred chilli
  13. as neededOil for fry vadas

Steps

    Soak 1 cup of yellow moong dal and 1/2 cup of urad dal overnight.

  2. 2

    Next morning, blend both dals and add 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of black pepper and 1/4 tsp of asafoetida.

    Fry the vadas using the blended mixture.

  4. 4

    Soak the fried vadas in hot water for 10 minutes.

  5. 5

    Squeeze the water from the vadas and keep the vadas in refrigrator for 20 minutes.

  6. 6

    Blend the yogurt to get a smooth texture

  7. 7

    Plate the dish by keeping two vadas. Put 1/2 cup of yogurt over it. Sprinkle some salt and red chilli over it. Put a tsp of each of three sauces over it. Sprinkle some pomegranate seeds over it. And the dish is ready to serve.
