In a bowl sift the flour, add the milk, sugar and yeast then stir.add the egg and vanilla.combine with your fingers.add lemon zest.stir

Add warm water bit by bit to form a dough.now add the butter and continue kneading for about 30mins. This will make the doughnuts light and soft.transfer to a working surface and roll out.use a doughnut cutter and cut and place in a grease tray or surface.cover and allow it to rise.

Fry in hot oil till golden brown. Enjoy!
