Ingredients

  1. 2 cupschopped palak
  2. 1/2 cupmoong daal
  3. 1/2 cupbasmati rice
  4. 1medium size onion
  5. 1 inchcinnamon (daalchini)
  6. 1bay leaf
  7. 2cloves
  8. 2green cardamom
  9. 1/2 tea spoonJeera
  10. 1/2 tea spoonginger garlic paste
  11. 1/2 tea spoongreen chilli paste
  12. 1/2 tea spoonTurmeric powder
  13. 1/2 tea spoonhing
  14. 2 tbsp Oil
  15. 4 cupswater

Cooking Instructions

    Both rice and moong daal is washed and soaked together into water upto 30 minutes.

    Wash palak or spinach leaves well, chopped them put into mixture or blender, make a smooth puree of spinach add very little of water, keep the spinach puree aside.

    Heat oil in the pressure cooker, add cardamom seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves.

    Fry the whole spices for some second till they become fragnant, finally add chopped onions and saute till they become golden.

    Add the ginger, garlic, green chilli paste, saute for about 15-20 seconds till the row aroma of ginger garlic goes.

    Then add Turmeric powder and stir well. Now add spinach puree and continue to saute for 2-3 minutes.

    Strain the rise and moong daal and add them to spinach mixture stir well. Put 4 cups of water, add salt and stir well.

    Cook khichdi to the medium flame for 5-6 whitshel.

    When the pressure settle down on it's remove the lid and check the consistency of Palak khichdi, if the khichdi looks thick you can add some hot water and simmer for a minute.

    Then serve with papad, onion salad as you wish.
