Steps

Wash the rice till the water runs clear. Cook it fully but dont over cook it. Keep it aside.

Heat oil in a cooking pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add asafoetida.

Add the chopped tomatoes and salt and cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Press the tomatoes with a potato masher.

Add all the spices and cover and cook till oil appears at the surface.

To it, add the cooked rice and stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes.

Tomato rice is ready. Serve hot.
