Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 Cuparhar dal
  • 1/2cabbage
  • 2 tablespoonstamarind pulp
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 2 slit green chillies
  • Handful curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon jeera / cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Rai / mustard
  • A Pinch Hing / asafoetida
  • 2 Pods pounded garlic
  • 1 teaspoon haldi / turmeric
  • accordingly to tasteSalt
  • 1 teaspoon chana dal / begal gram
  • 3 tablespoons oil

Steps

    Wash dal and soak little bit of tamarind. Cut cabbage into pieces

    Pour in a cooker. Add cumin,mustard,asafoetida,Chillies,curry patta and garlic. Then add washed daal then cabbage fry for 10 minutes.

    After that add salt, tamarind and haldi. I didn't extract tamarind pulp simply added soaked seedless tamarind into dal. Cook for 2 whistles and 5 minutes in low flame.
