Ingredients

  1. 3/4 cupdried chickpeas or 1 can of chickpeas (400 gm)
  2. 1small tomato
  3. 1small onion
  4. 1green chilli sliced (remove seeds)
  5. 4 tablespooncoriander, chopped plus more for garnish
  6. 1/2-1 teaspoonsalt
  7. 1 teaspoonchaat masala plus more for garnish
  8. 2 teaspoonlemon juice

    Soak chickpeas overnight in water. Make sure to use a large bowl as the chickpeas will double in size.

    Boil in salted water for about 45 minutes till tender. A pressure cooker can also be used, and in that case the chickpeas will not need to be soaked. The time for pressure cooking will be about 30 minutes.

    In a pan add a little amount of oil, fry onion till golden brown then add tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients.

    Add the chickpeas.

    Let it sit for about 10 – 15 minutes to let the flavors develop. Adjust seasonings if required.

    Garnish with coriander leaves and chaat masala before serving.
