Gopalkala is a traditional Maharashtrian dish. "Gopal" is a name of Lord Krishna and "Kala" means mixture. Which is made with poha, puffed rice, curd, cucumber, fruits and spices. Lord Krishna was very fond of milk, curd, butter, so it is made specially on the day of Janmashtami. Gopal kala is also filled in the handi in celebration of dahi handi and then distributed as prasad.

Cooking Instructions

Take one cup Poha/Flattened rice. Wash it well in water. Soak it for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, drain the water.

In a big bowl Add Curd, salt, suagr whisk it.

Also cucumber, tuttifruti, puffed rice, socked poha, dessicated coconut, coriander mix it well.

For tempering, take ghee in sauce pan, Once it is heated, Add mustard seeds.

Mustard starts spluttering, Cumin, hing, Curry leaves, green chilli saute for 1 minute, then Switch off the flame.

Add the tempering to the poha. Mix well gently.

So, Gopalkala is ready.
