Ingredients

  1. 1 lb (450 g)ground beef, preferably 90% lean
  2. Shitaki mushrooms minced
  3. 1 tbspoil
  4. 1/2onion, finely chopped
  5. 2green onion, finely chopped and separate the white part and use green part as garnish
  6. Bulgogi Sauce:
  7. 4 tbspsoy sauce
  8. 2 clovesgarlic, minced
  9. 2-3 tbspbrown sugar
  10. 2 tbspsweet rice wine (mirim)
  11. 1 tbspsesame oil
  12. 1 tsppepper
  13. 1 tbsptoasted sesame seeds
  14. 1 tbspoyster sauce
  15. Optional topping:
  16. 1/2each Bell pepper, Thai chili, Serrano chili
  17. Pinchsesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

    Mix all the bulgogi sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. Put beef in a bowl and mix the shiitake mushrooms and marinade and give it a good mix.

    Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add onion and white part of green onions and cook until soft, about 1-2 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until beef is browned and fully cooked.

    Allow the mixture to simmer until it is heated through and the sauce reduces, about 2 minutes. If using mix in the peppers and cook for one minute. Serve immediately over steamed rice and garnish with green onion and sesame seeds, if desired
