Dhansak is a parsi non veg dish made with mutton, green leaves and assorted daals and generous amount of Dhansak Masala. I have omitted mutton and added few vegetables like tinda and capsicum. Made in 3 batches. Red sauce, daals and greens.

Ingredients

  1. 100 gmsyellow moong daal
  2. 50 gmschilka daal
  3. 25 gmstuvar daal
  4. 3tomatoes
  5. 1carrot
  6. 1red capsicum
  7. 3spring onions
  8. 1green capsicum
  9. 2tinda
  10. 5 clovesgarlic
  11. 1/2 cupmethi
  12. 1/2 cupcoriander leaves
  13. 1 tspsalt, turmeric, red chilli powder
  14. 1 tspwhole garam Masala, cummin seeds and mustard seeds
  15. 1 tspdhansak Masala powder/ garam Masala powder

Cooking Instructions

40 minutes
  1. 1

    Make red sauce by roasting capsicums on gas.

    Boil together roasted capsicum, carrot, tomatoes, ginger and garlic.

  3. 3

    Cool and mash it.

  4. 4

    Boil the three daals, salt, 1 tomato,ginger and chilli powder.

  5. 5

    Make green sauce by boiling together all the green vegetables, 1 tomato and 1 spoon daal. and mashing them.

    Heat a non stick pan and roast, mustard, cummin seeds and whole garam masala

  7. 7

    Add red sauce.cook for 5 minutes.

    Add the daal mixture.

    Add the green mixture.

  10. 10

    Add all the spices. Cook for 5minutes more.

    Serve hot with steamed jeera rice and salad.
