Cooking Instructions
- 1
I made my own burger buns...check profile for sweet potato slider buns....the ingredients without measurements...I eye balled them
- 2
In a clean bowl, add your meat, egg, spices, salt, flour and breadcrumbs.....add your vegetables too
- 3
Mix everything till well combined....if the mixture feels to wet and soggy, add more breadcrumbs... If it feels to dry, add a little water
- 4
Using a spoon, scoop the meat mixture and form your burger patties
- 5
I grilled them on my double sided pan
- 6
Your patties are ready
- 7
Time to assemble the burger...cut your burger bun into half and butter each side
- 8
Clean your lettuce leaves...pat them dry...pick the best looking leaves and place them on the lower part of the burger...place your pattie
- 9
Next is the onion, tomato, and cucumber slices....in whatever option you fancy
- 10
Top up with mustard and place the other half of the burger....I used a skewer to hold it in place

Mushroom Blended Burger (First Attempt) Mushroom Blended Burger (First Attempt)
Blended burgers are the hot topic in the culinary world. The first I heard of it was in a piece on Jehangir Mehta, previous Iron Chef contestant and owner of several restaurants in New York. He makes what he calls the Graffiti Burger, a blend of different mushrooms, veggies and spices that's supposed to be as good, if not better than most of it's full meat predecessors. The James Beard Foundation (The Oscars..... Academy Awards?..... The big award for food writing) has a contest going on this year for what chef can make the best blended burger. So I thought I'd give it a try. I'm sure it doesn't shake a stick at the Graffiti Burger, but it was super flavorful, juicier than any beef burger I've had, and a lot less calories than a burger made from 80/20 chuck I would usually make. I ground my own meat for this, but you can get the same effect by buying ground meat. I recommend a 85/15 mix of lean to fat. With the juices from the vegetables if you go any higher on the fat content I think you're burger will be gushing juices (but if that's the kinda burger you're looking for, go for it!). The important part of the recipe is the beef:veggie ratio, everything I've seen sticks around 2:1, so for every one unit (lb/oz/g etc.) of vegetable you have two units beef. I'll be working on this recipe a lot, so any comments/suggestions would be great. Thanks! Jon Valdez -

Trojan-Horse Almost-Turkey Burgers Trojan-Horse Almost-Turkey Burgers
Why trojan horse? Well i got the idea from an interview on Sporkful=to wrap a beef burger in a turkey burger. It's genius! The turkey needs to be cooked all the way through, so turkey burgers are always dry. But here we can have juicy, medium done beef in the middle. As an added bonus i put a couple chunks of cheddar in the middle. What you come out with is a ridiculously juicy burger with a lot of flavors going on, that work very well together. Give it a try!
