In India, they call it besan cheela which is made using finely ground chickpea flour otherwise known as gram flour. I happened to buy some chickpea flour here in one the stores from a local brand. I added some grated vegetables to the batter and tried to make these similar to cheelas and they turned out so delicious that I couldn’t wait to share the recipe. These pancakes are so healthy and delicious. And needs no side really! #chickpeaflour #worldpulseday #chickpeas #chickpeapancakes #savourypancakes

Ingredients

20 mins
3 servings
  1. 250 gmsChickpea flour
  2. Mixed vegetables of choice (I used grated broccoli & carrots)
  3. 1medium onion finely chopped
  4. 1green chilli
  5. 1 pinchhing/asafoetida
  6. 1tblspn cumin seeds
  7. Fresh coriander finely chopped
  8. 1 pinchturmeric powder
  9. Salt as required
  10. Water
  11. 3/4 teaspoonbaking soda
  12. 3/4 teaspoonlemon juice

Cooking Instructions

20 mins
  1. 1

Take a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients except baking soda and lemon juice. Make a nice batter without lumps. The consistency of the batter is similar to dosa batter or slightly thinner than your regular pancake batter.

  2. 2

Finally, add baking soda and lemon juice on top to see the soda foam up a little bit and mix really well.

  3. 3

Slightly grease pan with butter or ghee and Make them like thick pancakes or thinner likes dosas. Adding lesser water initially and trying out one pancake is a good idea to understand consistency and results.

  4. 4

While we had it with pickle you could simply eat it with yoghurt or ketchup even 😬
