Ingredients

30 mins
2-3persons
  1. 1big lemon size of tamarind soaked for about half an hour in water for tamarind extract
  2. 4-5Whole red chillies
  3. 1 tspchana dal
  4. 1 tspurad dal
  5. 1 tspground nuts/cashewnuts
  6. 1 tspjeera/cumin seeds
  7. 1 tspmustard seeds
  8. 1 tspfenugreek seeds
  9. 1 inchfinely chopped ginger
  10. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  11. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  12. 1 tspjaggery/jaggery powder
  13. To tasteSalt
  14. 2-3 tspoil
  15. 8-10curry leaves

Cooking Instructions

30 mins
  1. 1

    Take the tamarind extract from the soaked tamarind and keep it ready

  2. 2

    In a kadahai/pan add oil,mustard seeds,jeera,chanadal,urad dal,groundnut.Fry till dal turn red add fenugreek seeds,ginger,red chillies and curry leaves.

    Then,add the tamarind extract,turmeric powder,asfoetida,salt and jaggery powder and let it boil

    It will slowly get reduced and cook till all the oil comes out.It will take around 20 mins.
