This is the pie crust I got from my mom. She got the recipe from a client of hers. It is a tasty crust that will make you wish you never had to eat so many store bought pie crusts. This recipe yields two, 2-crust, pie crusts.

Ingredients

30 mins
2 servings
  1. 3 cupall-purpose flour
  2. 1 1/4 cupshortening
  3. 1 tspsalt
  4. 1 tbspgranulated sugar
  5. 1/2 tspbaking powder
  6. 1/2 tspbaking soda
  7. 1eggs
  8. 1/3 cupcold water
  9. 1 tbspvinegar

Cooking Instructions

30 mins
  1. 1

Mix together the dry ingredients with the shortening so that it's fine crumbs.

  2. 2

Mix together 1 egg, 1/3 cup cold water, 1 tbsp clear vinegar in separate bowl. Stir wet ingredients into dry mixture.

  3. 3

Divide this into 4 balls and you have your 4 crusts.

  4. 4

Roll out each ball on a floured surface a bit larger than your pie pan.

  5. 5

When you transfer the crust to the pie pan, fold the crust in half downwards, then fold it across so it is 1/4 the size. Then when you place in pan simply unfold

  6. 6

Once you have the filling in, wet the rim of the bottom crust to bind the two together. Cut slits in the top crust for ventilation. Sprinkle a little sugar on top for some added flavor and appearance.
