Akuku Soup

Akuku soup is a Bassa Nge delicacy. It's made with a plant that I am yet to get the English name. It may look like the Hausa miyan kuka but trust me, it's totally a different soup from a different plant. It's a slimmy (draw) soup.
Enjoy!

Ingredients

  1. leavesDried Akuku
  2. Fish
  3. Meat (I used intestine)
  4. Salt
  5. Pepper
  6. Locust beans
  7. Seasoning
  8. Palm oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Boil meat, when it's done, add the quantity of water you want for the akuku soup. Add your washed dried fish, grinded dried pepper, locust beans, a cube of seasoning (depending on the quantity of soup). Add salt to taste, few drops of palm oil and cover to boil for about 5mins.

  2. 2

Get your akuku and pour it gradually into the boiling mix and stir. Continue pouring and stirring to avoid lumps until you get the thickness you prefer. Allow to boil for a minute and serve with ije rogo (cassava meal), semo, eba or any swallow of your choice. I had mine with ije rogo. Bon Appétit 😋
