Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cupMoong Dal (yellow moong)
  2. 1 cupSpinach leaves chopped
  3. 1small Onion finely chopped
  4. 1Tomato finely chopped
  5. 2slit green chillies
  6. 7-8garlic crushed
  7. 1 tspmustard seeds
  8. 1 tspcumin seeds/ jeera
  9. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  10. 1 tbspSambhar Powder
  11. 1/4-1/2 tspRed chilli powder (optional)
  12. To tasteSalt
  13. 1 tbspOil
  14. 1 pinchasafoetida

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Wash and pressure cook the moong dal with salt and turmeric for 4-5 whistle. It should be well cooked and mushy.

    Heat a pan with oil and spluter mustard and cumin and a pinch of asafoetida. Add the onions and slit green chillies. Saute until translucent.

  3. 3

    Add the tomato and salt. Fry for few minutes and add the red chilli powder and sambar powder. Saute until oil oozes out. Add the cooked dal and 1/4 cup of water according to your consistency. Let it boil for 5-7 minutes and done. Serve hot with rice and a tsp of ghee and 😋 enjoy your meal !
