I love sweet and sour sauce.

Make your own variation depending on what the veggies in your fridge have to say!

The recipe says to thinly slice the lotus root, but they're also good as thick slices.
The photo shows them chopped into thicker slices. Recipe by nani cafe

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1・ Japanese sweet potato
  2. 10cm ・ Lotus root
  3. 1cut ・ Chicken (thigh or breast)
  4. 1・ Broccoli (optional)
  5. ...............
  6. 150 ml*Water
  7. 2 tbsp*Sake
  8. 3 tbsp*Soy sauce
  9. 2 tbsp*Mirin
  10. 1and 1/2 tablespoon *Sugar
  11. 1・Katakuriko
  12. 1・ Salt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Chop sweet potatoes into thin slices and soak in water. Repeat the same for the lotus root.

  2. 2

Coat the drained sweet potato and lotus root slices in katakuriko. Let them sit a while until the katakuriko blends in.

  3. 3

Coat the drained sweet potato and lotus root slices in katakuriko. Let them sit a while until the katakuriko blends in.

  4. 4

Deep fry the ingredients in oil heated to 160℃. Since they tend to stick, it's best to fry them a little at a time.

  5. 5

Allow them to cool down once deep fried. Put all seasoning ingredients marked with a *into a frying pan and simmer.

  6. 6

Although it's already tasty at this stage, add sweet potatoes, lotus root, and chicken to the frying pan and coat in sauce.

  7. 7

Mix in broccoli to taste... then serve!
