Flounder with Roe Simmer

I didn't like making simmered fish, but I was taught this recipe for a simple yet delicious simmer. I tried it out and it was delicious, so it won me over.

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 2Flounder fillet
  2. Seasonings
  3. 1 1/2 tbspSugar
  4. 2 tbspSake
  5. 2 tbspMirin
  6. 2 tbspSoy sauce
  7. 2 tbspWater
  8. 1 tbspSashimi soy sauce (if unavailable, 2 or 3 tablespoons of regular soy sauce)
  9. 3pieces Ginger

Cooking Instructions

    Slice the ginger. If using frozen flounder, thaw it first.

    Add all of the seasoning ingredients to a pot and cook on medium heat.

  3. 3

    Once it comes to a boil, add the flounder.

  4. 4

    Cover with an aluminum foil lid and simmer for 5-8 minutes. Adjust the time depending on the size of the fish. Turn over once, or use a spoon to pour the sauce over it.
