Palak paneer is a popular Punjabi style curry which is prepared using spinach and cottage cheese. It is a delicious and flavourful curry which can be prepared easily. Here I have added cumin and red chilli tadka on top which adds to the taste and flavour. Palak paneer can be served with tandoori roti, naan, paratha or jeera rice.

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

First of all clean and wash spinach leaves thoroughly so that no dirt remains. Boil water in a pot and add spinach to it and blanch it for a minute. Now remove it and add it to the ice water so that it can retain the green colour.

  2. 2

Now remove it from the ice water and add it to a mixer grinder. Grind it into a smooth paste.

  3. 3

Heat ghee and oil in a pot and add finely chop onions to it. When onions become pink in colour add ginger, garlic and green chilli paste to it and saute it for 2 minutes. Now add coriander cumin powder, garam masala, kasuri methi and salt to it and mix everything well. Add finely chopped tomatoes to it along with half cup of water and mix everything well.

  4. 4

When tomatoes are cooked properly and oil is released from it, add palak paste to it along with half cup of water. Cook it for 3 to 4 minutes on medium heat. Now add cottage cheese and cook it further for 5 to 7 minutes. Add fresh cream to it and turn off the heat.

  5. 5

Heat oil for tadka and cumin, dry red chilli and red chilli powder to it and pour this tadka over the prepared palak paneer. Serve hot palak paneer along with paratha, naan, tandoori roti or jeera rice.
