These are delicious! Boil up a batch, eat some, freeze the rest for later. These are great for fall cookouts! Throw some venison sausage & hamburgers on the grill, boil up some peanuts, have some homemade ice cream! Have some friends over. Perfect!

Ingredients

4 - 6 hours
  1. 2lbs. green unshelled peanuts
  2. 3 oztable salt
  3. 3 gallonswater
  4. Some like to add crab boil and some HOT STUFF for extra seasoning. I prefer just plain salt

Cooking Instructions

4 - 6 hours
  1. 1

Wash peanuts in cool water until water runs clear. Soak in clean water 30 minutes to loosen any remaining dirt.

  2. 2

    Drain and rinse peanuts.
Add peanuts to a 12 qt pot along with the salt and 3 gallons water.
Stir well. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours. Check the texture of the peanut at this point for doneness, they should be soft like cooked kidney bean. It should hold its shape but not crunch when bitten. Add more water throughout the cooking process, if needed. If necessary, continue cooking 3-4 more hours until peanuts are done.

  3. 3

Drain peanuts and store in refrigerator up to 1 week.

  4. 4

Note: cooking time may vary depending on the freshness of the peanuts. The fresher they, the less time to cook.

  5. 5

If you’ve got an Instant Pot…. Follow filling instructions for the IP, place a trivet on top to keep the peanuts below the water. Cook on manual pressure 80 minutes with natural release. Drain and enjoy!

I love to bake sweet stuff, with a bit of savory tasty cooking thrown into the mix. Just good ol’ southern cuisine. Most of my recipes were handed down from my Great & Grand Grannies. If they didn’t grow it or raise it, it wasn’t eaten. My hubby and I have alot of food allergies so it gets challenging sometimes to make things that we both can eat. Neither of us can eat shellfish, which is sad, considering where we live, cuz it’s everywhere! Y’all won’t find any shellfish /saltwater fish recipes here. Some fresh water fishes, maybe. Hope y’all enjoy my recipes!
