Basil and Bacon Tomato Pasta Sauce
I harvested a lot of basil from the a pot in my garden, so I tried adding some to my usual tomato sauce. If you cook down the sauce too much, thin it out a bit with pasta cooking water. If you don't simmer the sauce enough though it will be watery. If you don't have fresh basil, substitute dried basil. If you don't like the sourness of tomato, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of sugar. Chicken and Cabbage Simmered in Tomato Sauce
I had a lot of cabbage that I'd bought or gotten from people to use up so I came up with this recipe. Since then it's become a family favorite.Because you dust the chicken with flour before browning and then simmering it the umami is held inside and the meat won't fall apart. By sprinkling it with some sake for cooking, the gaminess of the chicken is gone and it becomes very tender. Adjust the amount of salt and water depending on how much cabbage you use. I use about 1/2 a tomato can of water. Recipe by Makichimu

Cabbage Rolls Simmered in Tomato Sauce
I thought of this while making a recipe using ketchup. My family always uses ketchup for rolled cabbages; ketchup goes really well with rolled cabbage! I was confident about this, so I tried using ketchup inside as well as outside.Make sure not to rip the cabbage leaves when tearing them from the cabbage head. You can still wrap them up if you tear one by stacking up 2 leaves. The meat that you stuff inside might feel loose, but you roll it up in cabbage, so it's alright! The cabbage rolls remain juicy even the next day . Cabbage that has been boiled for a long time becomes soft and juicy, and makes delicious cabbage rolls. It is a bit of a pain, but you will be rewarded for your efforts when you eat it .These cabbage rolls won't fall apart even without using toothpicks to secure them.
