Mackerel Simmered in Sweet Miso

Follow these three tips and you'll have a scrumptious dish that'll be loved by all.
Tip 1. Pour hot water on the fish. It's an extra step, but it helps remove the odor and drains it.
Tip 2. Add the fish once the sauce has come to a boil.
Tip 3. Simmer in a short time. It avoids the filet from flaking and also prevents from becoming hard.
I sliced one mackerel into 2, and cut them half. For 4 servings. Recipe by sachie mama

I used to cook this at my old workplace. There's no need to add sugar as the pickled ginger already has sugar. You can replace the Tamari for normal soy however, Tamari gives a more mild flavor and brings out the umami (it'll take on a glossier sheen). Recipe by Toppogigaochan cookpad.japan -

Salmon Simmered in Sweet Miso Sauce from Hokkaido Salmon Simmered in Sweet Miso Sauce from Hokkaido
This dish really represents Hokkaido! Every Hokkaido native has grown up with this dish. It's warming and filling regional favorite. You can make this in a pan or in an electrical griddle. Just use the same procedure and reduce the amount if needed, you don't have a lot of washing up afterwards, and it's so easy. For the version in the photos, I used a small tabletop pot.If you use an electric griddle, more moisture will evaporate so it will be like a stir-fry. For 4 to 5 servings with a generous amount of miso sauce. Recipe by Mirunesan cookpad.japan -

This is our family's usual fried salmon dish. It's one of my daughter's favorite meals. This is even easier to make with salmon that's already had the bones removed, but it'll be a bit more expensive. Tianmianjiang-style Sweet Miso Sauce Tianmianjiang-style Sweet Miso Sauce
This was a recipe taught to me at the place I worked more than 10 years ago. This recipe works better if you use miso without dashi added. You have to constantly stir the sauce, so I think it is a good idea to make it when you have some spare time. The miso will splatter of the pot and stain your clothes, so I suggest wearing an apron!. Add more sesame oil if you prefer. Recipe by kenken mama cookpad.japan -

I love deep fried mackerel (mackerel tatsutaage). I wanted to make it more delicious as well as eat more vegetables with it, so I thought of this recipe. It will have a more strong taste if you add grated garlic to the B ingredients. Either way is good! You will need to fry the mackerel a bit longer if it has a backbone. Deep fry it for about 5 minutes in that case. For 5 to 6 servings. Recipe by Mamemame cookpad.japan -
