Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala) Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala)
#indonesianfood #vegetarian #veganfriendlyI was so craving with Indonesian deep fried snacks lately. So today I made this vegetables fritters for myself since my hubby is not really fans of any deep fried food. I choose vegetables fritters, because it’s very easy to make and also less ingredients. I can used any vegetables that I have in my fridge, then just adding flour, season with seasoning, mix together and fry it. Sounds easy right? Indeed, it is easy.By the way actually in Indonesia there are many kind of vegetables fritters. But normally they have similar ingredients and seasoning but some other region has different way of how to fried. In East Java, they’re using ladle to shape the batter and deep frying it. It’s called Weci, Heci, or Ote-ote. In West Java they’re simply just dropping the batter with the spoon into the hot oil and fried it. It’s called Bala-bala. So this time I am going to make bala-bala and I am simply using West Java methods to frying the vegetables fritters. Okay... let’s check on the ingredients and how to make it. Nia Hiura -
Secret Baumkuchen Recipe - I Don't Want to Tell Anybody Secret Baumkuchen Recipe - I Don't Want to Tell Anybody
I tried to make baumkuchen so many times, but I couldn't get the growth rings patterns. I know how to make baumkuchen, just pile up pancakes, but I don't like the shape. So, I decided to use a banana as a centre for the cake.I had tried an aluminum stick before, but it was too difficult to remove from the cake later on. With this recipe, you don't need to worry. Its also economical as you can eat it all! The only thing missing is....chocolate!! It's great to coat with a final layer of chocolate. You can make own batter such as pancake mix. I used my own easy waffle batter and re-arranged it a little. Please try adding heavy cream or more butter to make a rich baumkuchen. Enjoy your own taste.Tip: The banana is not cooked. So as soon as you slice the cake, the banana will start changing colour to brown. So please slice it just before serving. For 1 banana baumkuchen. Recipe by sweetsweet cookpad.japan -

Low-Calorie Tonkatsu (Japanese style pork cutlet in bread crumbs) Low-Calorie Tonkatsu (Japanese style pork cutlet in bread crumbs)
My kids love Tonkatsu- Japanese style deep fried pork cutlets but I hate to deep fry, with all the extra oil and calories, So I pan-fried and let the oven do the rest. You can cut extra calories by using tenderloin instead of the usual loin which is much leaner. Miyuki Suyari -

Indonesian Fried Pastry (Pastel Goreng) Indonesian Fried Pastry (Pastel Goreng)
#deepfried#pastryIn my country this fried pastry called “Pastel Goreng”Pastel goreng or fried puff pastry is one of the famous Indonesian snack. It’s a type of savory and deep fried snack. This fried pastry looks similar to an empanadas, Puerto Rican pasteles, English pasties, or Malaysian curry puff.Which makes it different maybe from the filling and taste.I like the Malaysian curry puff, but for me the Indonesian version of fried puff is much better. The filling is lighter then curry puffs because they don’t use too much herbs and spices on it. Also, you can use whatever you want for the filling. You can make it as a vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Most common filling in Indonesia is using vermicelli mixed vegetables and a sliced of hard boiled eggs. But of course you can put veggies and chicken or even only vegetables such as carrot, potatoes, celery and mixed it with vermicelli only without meat. This snack is good for family time, parties, snacking, or even for potluck ideas.Usually you can eat it as is, oralong with spicy peanut sauce or with a bite of fresh chili 🌶Well in this recipe, for the filling I use based of what I have in my fridge. So for the filling, it might be vary.Give it try, this fried pastry is really appetizing. So here is the recipe. Nia Hiura
