Ingredients

8-12 servings
  • Lasagna noodles (I use Barilla)
  • 1.5 lbsground beef
  • 24 ozcottage cheese
  • Hunts Pasta Sauce (Traditional or Garlic and Herb)
  • Shredded cheese of your choice
  • Garlic salt
  • Brown gravy mix (I use McCormick)
  • Optional:
  • 4eggs
  • Parmesan cheese

Steps

    Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. 2

    Add water to pot, salt to taste, let boil.

  3. 3

    Once boiling, add 9 noodles to water, cover with lid and follow cooking directions on box.

  4. 4

    Throw hamburger meat in pan on medium-high heat, gradually add gravy mix and garlic salt to taste. Stir and chop well until all is browned.

    (OPTIONAL STEP) While that's cooking and covered, pour cottage cheese into bowl (bigger than you think you'll need, trust me) crack four eggs into bowl, mix well with fork.

    Once browned, turn off heat but don't remove from burner. Add 90% of sauce to meat.

    Lightly run water onto inner edges of sauce can to get all sauce to bottom, shake in a circular motion to mix water and sauce together. Then pour into bottom of 11x13 casserole dish. Tilt dish around to cover bottom with diluted sauce. (if it doesn't cover evenly or to all edges or you just want a little extra, feel free to put a couple spoonfuls of "meat sauce")

    Layer three noodles side by side. Pour all of cottage cheese on and smooth out. Drizzle just a little "meat sauce" on top of cottage cheese, just enough to get a little in each bite."

    Add three more noodles. Now is time to go a little crazy with the shredded cheese.

    Add last three noodles, dump the rest of the meat sauce! Make sure it covers to all edges, it'll help your side pieces not be dried out and crunchy.

    (OPTIONAL STEP) add as much parmesan as you think you can handle.

  12. 12

    (OPTIONAL STEP) If you think it's going to overflow in the oven, put a cookie sheet under the pan to catch any overflow.

    Place in oven for 45 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before cutting into it.
