Slightly Fancy Madeleines

I wondered what madeleines would look like with a pattern on them so gave it a try. I always have fun seeing people's reactions to it!
As long as it's not too complicated, I think you can draw any design. I also loved how French restaurants put sauce on plates in this pattern so I went with this. Whenever people see the finished product they always ask, "How did you do this??". Even if they don't turn out perfect, they're still cute. I'd love to see your design ideas too. Recipe by Sachimura

Cooking Instructions
- 1
First, start the same as"10-Minute Prep! Easy Madeleines". Use just 1 teaspoon of baking powder to keep the madeleines from rising too much.

- 2
If you prefer madeleines that don't rise at all, use your own favorite recipe.
- 3
Take about 1/5 of the batter fromand mix in the cocoa powder and sugar.
https://cookpad.wasmer.app/us/recipes/144464-easy-madeleines-with-10-minutes-prep
- 4
After that, all you have to do is pour the white batter into your molds and then add on the pattern with the chocolate batter! You can use any design you want.
- 5
Here's one example. Use a narrow spoon to place drops of chocolate batter to form a circle. This is easiest to do after cooling the batter in the refrigerator for a bit.
- 6
It doesn't matter exactly where, just put the bamboo skewer in the middle of a chocolate batter drag through all the drops in a circle. Any mistakes can be fixed, to some degree! Make sure to draw the design on the outside edge of the madeleine.
- 7
This pattern kind of looks like hearts.
- 8
The trick, or should I say the way to make it easier, is to cool the batter first so it isn't too liquidy. But, don't worry, if you mess up the pattern it can be fixed!
- 9
The spoon I use looks like this. A small spoon is easy to use.

Madeleines cost 100-200 yen each. But if you make them at home, not only are they additive-free, but they're also cheap. I wanted to eat a lot, because I'm a glutton! I like to use strong bread flour for baking, so I used it for making madeleines, too. By using almond flour and cultured butter, I succeeded in making rich and dense madeleines.Be patient. Madeleines Madeleines
When I read Proust for the first time, in my teenage years, I fell in love with the story behind his madeleines. In "Du côté de chez Swann", while drinking tea and eating a madeleine, the smell brings him back to his younger years at his aunt's home. So, my mother gave me a madeleine recipe, and I started baking them. It's been around 15 years that I make madeleines, and it became my favorite dessert, as well as my specialty.
