This is a very simple dish of fried Shiitake. My mother used to grill them, but I deep-fry them. Of course you can shallow-fry them using a frying pan. I like adding more flavours to Ponzu, but they are all optional. You can use Ponzu only.

Ingredients

3 to 4 Servings
  • 200 gShiitake Mushrooms
  • Oil for cooking
  • Ponzu Dressing
  • 2 tablespoonsPonzu
    Ponzu
  • *OR 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce, 1/2 tablespoon Rice Vinegar & 1/2 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cloveGarlic *finely chopped, optional
  • 1/2Chilli *thinly sliced, optional
  • 1/2Spring Onion *finely chopped, optional

Steps

    Combine all the Ponzu Dressing ingredients in a bowl. *Note: Vegetables are optional. You can use Ponzu only.

  2. 2

    Clean Shiitake Mushrooms, cut into the size that is easy to eat if large.

  3. 3

    Deep-fry or shallow-fry Shiitake. The easiest method is probably shallow-fry in a frying pan. Heat a generous amount of Oil in a frying pan, cook Shiitake Mushrooms over medium heat until both sides are nicely browned.

  4. 4

    Add to the Ponzu Dressing and mix to combine. Add extra Ponzu if you like stronger flavour.
