Grilled Ham and Chikuwa with Mayonnaise

I came up with this recipe to use up the chikuwa that's been sitting in the fridge.
If you want to use the same frying pan for another dish (to reduce dirty dishes), spread parchment paper on the frying pan before you cook. These are also good toasted in a toaster oven. For 6 servings. Recipe by Shiawasenashokutaku

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cut the chikuwa in half lengthwise. Slice ham to the same size as the chikuwa.
- 2
Spread out the chikuwa with the outside (the browned side) facing up. Top with ham, and roll it up. Skewer with a pick.
- 3
Heat a frying pan and spread vegetable oil. Grill both sides of the chikuwa roll (from step 2).
- 4
When both sides are golden brown, add mayonnaise and coarsely ground black pepper and serve.

When I was having coffee with friends who are also moms, we started talking about food for bentos. That's when I came up with this recipe. My son loves mentaiko, so I usually pack all sorts of mentai-mayo food in his bento.Because the two pieces will be stuck together (as seen in the photo of step 4), I recommend you break them apart before adding into bentos. If you leave them stuck together, the cheese for the other piece will come off when you try to eat one chikuwa. For 1 to 2 servings. Recipe by yuyuxyuyu cookpad.japan -

The mayo sesame dressing is delicious. This is a quick and easy dish to make. Besides cucumber, broccoli stems are also tasty!About this recipeThis is part of my favorite mayo sesame series. Adding chikuwa gives it a bit more volume. Broccoli stems don't release much moisture, so it's still delicious the next day. ちょこ☆ちょこTranslated from Cookpad Japan
