Ingredients

30 minutes
4 - 6 persons
  1. 1medium size Alphonso mango that is half cup mango pulp
  2. 1 cupfresh grated coconut
  3. 1/2 cup sugar + 2 tbsp powder sugar
  4. 1/2 cup mawa that is solidified milk which is made by evaporating 2 cups of milk
  5. 1tsp ghee (clarified butter)
  6. 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  7. 10-12 strandssaffron which is optional
  8. Few pistachios for garnishing

Steps

    First grind sugar and coconut together.

  2. 2

    Place a heavy bottom pan on a medium flame gas. Add 1tsp ghee for heating. Add coconut mixture to the ghee and stir.

  3. 3

    On slow to medium flame stir for five minutes till sugar is melted.

  4. 4

    Now add mango pulp to the pan and cook for five minutes on slow fire.

  5. 5

    Add mawa powder, sugar, cardamom powder and saffron and mix well.

  6. 6

    Cook on slow flame for 10 to 15 minutes till the mixture gets a dough like consistency.

  7. 7

    Grease a tray and spread the mixture evenly. Garnish with pistachio pieces. Cool the contents for one hour.

  8. 8

    Remove the solidified mixture in a plate by tapping on the tray from outside. Cut it in to equal size pieces. Our delicious sweet Mango Coconut barfi is ready to be served.
