Soak the dal for 1 hour. Boil in pressure cooker for 1 whistle. Peel and Chop the ridge gourd. In the same cooker, along with cooked dal, add veggie and cook for another whistle.
Tip: don’t throw away the peels, instead you can make the delicious chutney. - 2
Heat oil, add red chilli, hing, bayleaf, panch poran, followed by onions and crushed garlic. Mix chopped tomatoes and all the dry masalas: salt, turmeric, chilli & sambar powder.

When tomato’s are fully cooked, pour in the boiled dal veggie. Mix well and let it simmer for 5/7 minutes. Now complete the dish by adding grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
