I wanted to try and make it homemade. I got tired of the boxed stuff. It came out pretty good!

I wanted to try and make it homemade. I got tired of the boxed stuff. It came out pretty good!
Steps

Cook pasta according to package directions, until al dente (apx. 7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan on medium heat, melt butter and add flour and whisk into a roux.

Add chicken broth a little at a time, stirring constantly.

Add the cream and salt/pepper and continue stirring until sauce thickens.

Add the cheese and continue stirring until cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Pour the sauce over the pasta and mix well until the pasta is completely coated.

Pour into a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs and sprinkle with cayenne pepper (optional).

Bake (uncovered) in a 350 degree oven for approximately 15 minutes, until the sides begin to brown.
