- 1
Cut the sugarcane into shorter pieces and peel them. This requires a lot of strength! I had my husband help me. We did this outside because it can get messy.
- 2
Chop the sugarcane into very small pieces to prepare for blending. My husband helped with this step too.
- 3
The blender may stop frequently, but keep trying until it's done.
- 4
Place the blended sugarcane in a cloth and squeeze out the juice. I couldn't squeeze it well, so my husband helped again.
- 5
We only got a small amount of juice the first time.
- 6
We repeated this process about 6 times. The amount of juice is very small compared to the pulp.
- 7
Simmer the juice over low heat until it thickens.
- 8
Delicious brown sugar is ready.
