I have a tradition with my team at work for "New Salsa Monday" so each week I experiment a little different making salsa. This was my first green salsa attempt
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350
- 2
Peel and wash Tomatillos, chop stems of serranos and Anaheims. Then cut Tomatillos and peppers in half. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper and cumin. Place in oven and bake for an hour
- 3
In the meantime roughly chop cilantro, avocado, onion. Roll limes on the counter to soften them up and then chop into slices. Set aside.
- 4
Remove Tomatillos and peppers from oven and transfer to a food processor with any juices on the tray. Add onion, cilantro, avocado and juice from the limes to food processor. Add more cumin, salt and pepper if desired, I will usually add 1/2 a teaspoon each additional to the processor.
- 5
Pulse to blend to desired thickness
- 6
Use it as a chile Verde type sauce for cooking or chill in the refrigerator and eat with chips!

Salsa Verde (Green Salsa) Salsa Verde (Green Salsa)
I found some mysterious looking tomatillos in the supermarket and used them to make this green salsa. I prefer green salsa over red salsa and tried many ways to get this recipe right. I tend to buy my salsa but wanted to taste some homemade stuff just this once.Of course you can use jalapeño peppers rather than Serrano chili peppers if you'd prefer. You can also make this salsa entirely with raw vegetables. I always boil my vegetables but there's not really a reason for it, it's just something that I have always done. You can also make a warm simmered sauce from this recipe by adding more salt. Recipe by KazenomachinoPeco cookpad.japan -

This can be a vegetarian dish if you decide to use veggie broth. I love salsa so this was a great way to use all the same ingredients in a bigger way. Plus you could always add shredded chicken or sauteed shrimp. All toppings are optional. Emily -

I made my Salsa Verde for taco night, but soon realized that it is also a great topping no just for tacos and chips, but also for scrambled eggs, chicken and fish! Give it a try! 😄 LaTrā Guerra -

Everyone’s flavor profile is a little different. Making good salsa is like painting. A little of this color and a little of that color, some blending, until it’s just right! Here are the key ingredients and directions. Quantities are up to your tastes! I make a big batch and freeze for later. Also, I like it spicy 😉🌶️ Courtney Mainhart -
Salsa Verde Salsa Verde
Salsa was very delicious! We doubled the recipe, and added a few Tbl of lime juice. The jalapeño was too spicy so we added 6-7 extra tomatillos. Next time I would just cut the amount of jalapeño in half. Ari Phillips
