Pressure cook masoor. Tun a blender.

Boil 250 ml water in a pot. Add a bit of turmeric powder and salt. Bring it to a boil. Add blended masoor in it. Allow it to cook on the lowest flame.

Meanwhile, heat up oil in a tadka pan. Crackle cumin seeds, add asafoetida powder, the ginger garlic paste and tomato. Fry till tomatoes soften and oil oozes. Fry for a minute or so then after. Add this tadka in dal.

Let it boil for a few minutes till you get desired consistency. If the dal looks thicker, you can add hot water to adjust consistency. Serve hot with rice, rotli, shake.
