Bread

I've been baking bread all my life. I was taught by my mother and grandmother. This is a recipe that has been consistently successful. This is my stripped down goto recipe. I can add sugar and have a great sweet bread that will even fry up as donuts. Or this recipe can have cheese and bacon bits incorporated into the dough for a savory bread that goes great with soups.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Measure 3/4 cup luke warm water. Mix 3 tablespoons of yeast in the water and let it proof.
- 2
In a different cup measure 1/4 cup oil, to the same cup add one egg, and then add plain yogurt. This should equal one cup all together.
- 3
In a large bowl measure one cup of flour and add the yeast and water and mix.
- 4
Add another cup of flour on top of the bread batter and then on top of the flour add the salt. And mix.
- 5
Add last cup of flour slowly and mix until the dough is stiff enough to start kneeding it. When you have incorporated all of the flour, form the dough into a ball.
- 6
Rub a little oil in the bottom of the bowl and on the ball of dough. Cover and let the dough rise. 20 to 30 minutes.
- 7
When the dough has doubled pat down and form a loaf of bread or rolls. And preheat the oven to 400°F.
- 8
Let the bread rise. 20 to 30 minutes. It should double. Bake for twenty minutes. Check the bread, if it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped, it is done. It might need another five minutes.

Bread Bread
We ran out of bread but it's a long line at the supermarket. Our city is still in community quarantine. I have to make bread. I have no bread flour so I used all purpose flour instead. I also don't have a loaf pan so I just used a tray. I also tried putting a simple slash design on the loaf but it didn't work 😅 bemski
