Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 stickbutter
  2. 1 cupsliced onion
  3. 12 ozbag extra wide egg noodles
  4. 1 headcabbage (medium sized)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Cut up cabbage and rinse well with water.

  2. 2

Cut 1 stick of butter into pats and place in bottom of crockpot.

  3. 3

Place cabbage in crock pot on top of butter.

  4. 4

Cut 1/2 stick butter into pats and put on top of cabbage in crockpot.

  5. 5

Cook on low approximately 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Cabbage will be light brown in color when done.

  6. 6

Do not leave crock pot unattended. Cabbage will burn on the bottom. This is an easy way to cook down cabbage when you are home doing housework. I get my husband to stir for me if I`m not at home :-)

  7. 7

Lower crock pot to warm while preparing the onion and noodles.

  8. 8

Saute onion in remaining stick of butter until soft.

  9. 9

Cook noodles according to package directions and drain.

  10. 10

Drain cabbage. Combine half of cooked cabbage with noodles, pour onion and butter over mixture and stir.

  11. 11

    Add salt to taste.

  12. 12

Freeze remaining drained cabbage for future use. I get 2 batches of Haluski from 1 medium head of cabbage.
