Ingredients

2 servings
  • 2 cupChana dal / bengal gram -
  • 250 gmsFinely chopped bottle gourd / lauki -
  • 2 medium sizeFinely chopped onion -
  • 1/2 tspRed chilli powder -
  • 1/2 TSPTurmeric powder -
  • 1 pinchCumin seeds -
  • 50 gmsButter -
  • 1/4 cupMilk -
  • 1 tspFinely chopped ginger -
  • 1 - 2Bay leaf -
  • 1/4 tspGaram masala powder -
  • 1 tspGinger garlic paste -
  • 1 pinchAsafoetida / hing -
  • to tasteSalt -

Steps

30 mins
  1. 1

    Heat butter in a pan.

  2. 2

    Add cumin seeds,asafoetida/hing,ginger and bay leaf and fry it.

  3. 3

    Add onion and fry till light pink.

  4. 4

    Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder,ginger garlic paste,garam masala powder and 2 tbsp water.

  5. 5

    Add milk little by little and milk bottle gourd / lauki and mix well.

  6. 6

    Add chana dal / bengal gram, salt and lauki / bottle gourd in a preesure cooker.

  7. 7

    Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook.

  8. 8

    After one whistle simmer the gas for 10 mins.

  9. 9

    Garnish with coriander leaves
