Mississippi Roast My Way

I like using a packet of beef gravy over the au jus mix and I like adding carrots, garlic and potatoes to make it a one pot meal all through you could leave them out if wanted. If you didn't use diced potatoes it's very good served with mashed potatoes. I made this today with just carrots and I stuffed a few garlic cloves into meat before browning and left out the minced garlic.

Made this from Pinterest before and thought the original recipe was missing a little something. Added some dijon, pepperocini brine and Worcestershire and it really improved the flavor! My husband loves it better the next day as well served on a fresh kaiser roll. Bridget -
Mississippi Roast Mississippi Roast
A simple classic that I've modified with some extra ingredients to give it depth. I serve this over mashed potatoes, garnished with parsley and a side of green beans. This recipe could easily be adapted for a slow cooker (cook on low after searing 8 hrs) or a pressure cooker (cook at high pressure after searing for 1.5 hrs). We have made the Mississippi pot roast before, and it's very good, and so easy. But I wanted to try pork, and kick it up a little. Here is where I took it.This wasn't really spicy at all, but I wouldn't classify it as bland. Not hard to do in any way.Plus it is in a slow cooker, so it just sits there all day and does it's thing.10 minutes at most to set it up.5 minutes at the end.Easy Peasy! The Modified Mississippi Roast The Modified Mississippi Roast
The Mississippi Roast is one of the most popular recipes on the Internet. Probably among the most reproduced recipes of all time in fact, considering it's popularity, accessibility, and simplicity. It does call for some highly processed ingredients though, ingredients I tend to try and avoid. So I thought I'd see if I could get equally delicious results from more natural ingredients without adding to the complexity or prep time. Better than the original? I'm pretty satisfied, but I'll leave that for you to decide. Ryan Goodwin -
