Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cupWhole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cupSemolina
  • 1/2 cupYogurt
  • 1/2 tspBaking powder
  • 4 tbspGhee
  • to tasteSalt
  • as neededGhee for dipping
  • 1/4 cupMelted ghee
  • For daal________ mix dal
  • 1/4 cupChana dal / bengal gram
  • 1/4 cupArhar dal
  • 1/4 cupMoong dal / tellow lentil
  • 1/4 cupUrad dal chilka / black gram
  • to tasteSalt
  • 3 tbspGhee
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 2Red or green chillis chopped
  • 1 pinchhing / asafoetida
  • 2 tbspGinger garlic paste
  • 1Onion finely chopped
  • 2Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 tspCoriander powder
  • 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspChilli powder
  • 1/2 tspGaram masala powder
  • 1 tbspLemon juice

Steps

    For dal, wash all the dals and add to pressure cooker. Add salt and 5_6 cups water, turmeric powder, and mix well pressure cook for 4 to5 whistles.allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Heat the ghee in a pan. Add dry green red chillis, jeera when crackle add onion saute for 3 min.add tomatoes and ginger garlic paste saute for 2_3 min. Now add all masala haldi, chilli, garam masala along with 2_3spoon of water and mix well. Cook on a medium flame for 3_4 min. Remove from heat.

    Add lemon juice and mix well.dal is ready

    For baatis.. in appe pan,Add wheat flour, semolina, ghee,salt and baking powder to a large mixing bowl. Mix well and yogurt to it. Mix well to knead into a semi stiff dough. 5_6 tbsp or more warm water if needed. Divide the dough in to 10_12 equal portions and shape each portion in to a ball. Heat the appe pan add grease it with desi ghee. Then put the baatis in appe pan and cook both sides untill they are golden brown. Then baatis soak cracked in ghee for a few second,drain and

    Keep aside. Baatis are ready. Serve hot with dal chutney onions as u wish and enjoy.
