Soak the basmati rice for 15-20 minutes and drain.

Boil it with water by adding salt to taste. Cook the rice firm and al dente but not mushy. Drain the rice to a colander.

Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. When they splutter, add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and star anise. Saute for a few seconds.

Next add all the dry fruits. Fry till light golden brown.

Now add boiled rice and saffron. Mix gently and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add biryani masala and mint leaves. Mix well and turn off the flame after 1 minute.

Add little more ghee. Fluff the rice with a fork.

Serve hot garnished with mint leaves.
