Ingredients

  • 100 gramstamarind
  • 2 cupshot water
  • 1/4 cupoil
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 1dried red chilli
  • pinchhing / asafoetida
  • Fewcurry leaves
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 50 gramsjaggery
  • 1 tspsalt
  • ForFOR PULIYOGARE MASALA POWDER:
  • 2 tbspsesame seeds
  • 2 tspoil
  • 2 tbspcoriander seeds
  • 1 tbspcumin / jeera
  • 1 tbspurad dal
  • 1 tbspchana dal
  • 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsppepper
  • 1/4 tspmethi / fenugreek
  • 1/4 cupdry coconut, sliced
  • 7dried red chillies
  • Fewcurry leaves
  • For RICE:
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tspmustard
  • 1 tspchana dal
  • 1/2 tspurad dal
  • 2 tbsppeanuts
  • 1dried red chilli
  • Fewcurry leaves
  • 2 cupscooked rice
  • 1/2 tspsalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Firstly, in kadhai heat 2 tbsp oil and splutter ½ tsp mustard, 1 tsp chana dal, ½ tsp urad dal and 2 tbsp peanuts.
    Now add 1 dried red chilli and few curry leaves. Saute for a minute

  2. 2

    Further, add prepared 2 tbsp puliyogare gojju and saute for a minute.
    Add in 2 cups cooked rice, ½ tsp salt and mix well.
    Mix until the rice is well combined with gojju. Use your hands for best results.
